The Coromandel Peninsula - 21st-25th July

After Rotorua, headed again north to the Coromandel Penisula and Coromandel Town. In Coromandel Town i met up again with Dalia & Nigel. They were both helping out a friend - Cyrl - on a retreat 20 min from the town. I think clearing or chopping wood.

On the bus journey I met up with Alex - Alex n°2 & from Scotland - I previously met Alex in the backpackers in Taupo. We travelled with together with Dalia & Nigel around the Coromandels.

Bizarrely, I have no photos of Coromandal Town main street. There is not much there. Some decent coffee shop of course and one that serves the best potatoes wedges so far on the trip. Surprisingly the best Gelato in NZ

A few days in the town and then myself and Alex piled in the back of Dalia car and the 4 of us headed to the furthest point north on the peninsula and fletcher bay.

Then back to the east coast of the peninsula via Coromandal Town, Whitianga, Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove

Hot Water beach is something special. On the beach itself, hot water bubbles to the surface. Digging little pools int he sand; allowing the hot water flow into the pits - with some sea water as the hot water is bloody hot - you You can have a hot bath.

Nearby is Cathedral Cove and a fine sunset.

Then we headed to Auckland, then I to Wanganui for more Flat White...

(Not the best written post, but with how much coffee I am must drink to get the free Internet, what do you expect...)

Ok... I reluctantly acknowledge that the North Island also has nice bits.
