Taking a Break from All My Travels - Wanneroo, Western Australia

G'Day Mates

I have at last caught up with myself. I am in Wanneroo, near Perth, Western Australia and my first planned break in my travels. I have been travelling for over 5 months. I have been here for a week and I am staying for up to month with John (Dilks) and his family. At this moment just his mum Pat (and Patch the dog). John should be here in a few days. Then back on the road to explore Australia

To those who may not know, I grew up with John in Oadby, Leicester. We are talking the 80s. The time of Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Eurythmics, Banarama, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, Culture Club, The Thatcher years - I spit -, the Ford Cortina, bad haircuts, and a lot more...

This is a way to say that the Blog will also be taking a break. Not such a bad thing. A mid life up grade. I think the quality of the writing was suffering during the past few weeks. I am thinking of restarting mid April. Maybe earlier? Maybe an occasional post when the mood takes me? I like to thank everybody who have made comments until now. Keep commenting; I will check regularly. If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to send them to me.

Until then enjoy a couple photos of Perth and of me with my old/new hair cut - radical as usual.

Better go and throw that shrimp on the barbi. See all you in a few weeks......

Cool Dan! Good on ya mate for taking a break. It must be hard always writing and putting photos on the blog and keeping up with it all. (I took a break from Facebook last week, feel much more refreshed. And I really don't mind the changes they've made, quite like it really. I was too stressed and couldn't be bothered with some of the silly gossip and thingy-me-jig aplications so decided to take a week off facebook.

I have really enjoyed your blog, following you wherever you have been and loved seeing all those photos along the way.

Take care Dan. Have a good break. see you soon. Hope that you are feeling better too.

Pleased to see you still have the same great taste in child-malester sunnies!!

Love and hugs x x

"Good on ya mate" for taking a break.
If you're changing hairstyles in Oz surely it's the right time to consider those blonde Zohan-like highlights you've always wanted (yes, the Eighties left me permanently damaged too). Look after yourself and may the force be with you, as always.

Hey Dan!

Just as you're to take a break from the blog, I break my month long silence (been a busy one) and at last post a post! Oh well. I can use the time to catch up on all the blog bits I missed.

Man, the hair is wild in that first picture. I agree with Lena, the blonde highlights would have worked a treat. Perhaps with a mullet-type style, what do you think, Lena? The sort you can wear with a baseball cap (a Bon Jovi one, perhaps) in order to look effortlessly cool.

Just a thought.

Nice to hear that you can lounge about in Oz a bit, and I hope you enjoy the change of pace, as well as being able to spend time with John. You're going to have a great few months, I'm sure.

And remember, if times should get tough - just take my hand, and we'll make it, I swear. Oh yes, by living on a prayer.

Dave x
